I like to read poems that I can relate to. Poems about everyday life or experiences. If they become too abstract I find it hard to follow and understand them. I think lack in the ability to write about things I have not personally experienced, so I need some ideas on how to improve in this area.

I'll tell you one great thing I've learned: Don't ever force. What I mean by that is write from the heart. Instead of commanding your story, let it flow from your mind to the paper. I understand that many writers have deadlines and expectations to meet. In fact, some write best WHEN they have a deadline. But that's no excuse for forced quality. Relax yourself and stop thinking about what you want it to be. Think about your love for the story and your passion to share. Then it will be easy to hit the deadline, and your work will be a million times better. One more thing. Sometimes we use outlines and such...but sometimes the best thing you can do is open a blank document and JUST WRITE.

Hi everyone, I am new to this site, as well as writing....seriously. I have always loved writing, but now I am focusing more time to do it. I am interested in writing for kids and teens. I am currently working on a story from the who, what, and where page. It is not for kids...lol. I haven't finished it yet, but if any of you can give me some feedback, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
