Twelve Dead Men
All tolled, there were a dozen men
who beat the dungeon floor.
And it was wandered, even then,
if chance would grant them life again
and bless them ever more.
But lo, the gallows swung at eight,
as it had done before,
to seal the outcome of their fate,
while justice evened out the score.
