ONCE UPON A DREAM

I thought I knew you but alas, I was wrong again.
The words flowed out of you like silken threads but
became twisted and tied in the end, but just for awhile
I felt like someone cared and how my days felt like I
was floating on clouds, but then the storm came and
you were gone I have come to expect things like that
so the pain is not that great and I fall back into myself
promising never to walk that path again.

I look and see love all around and I begin to dream once more
of what it would be like to have someone who really cared until
reality hits me in the face once more and I realize that I shall
never find what I seek for if I do I shall run far away before I
am trapped once again

This reminded me of the song "Goodbye To Love" by The Carpenters. Sometimes reality just hurts so much after you gave your all that you want to give up and hide behind "the insurmountable fortress" (as I call it) forever. But to not give up or give in is what the fight for true love is. "Fall down 7 times, get up 8"

Anyone can make you smile or cry, but it takes someone special to
make you smile when you already have tears in your eyes
