Far From The Pit
He placed his phone on silent
As he walked into the room
He felt cut off and alone now
As he reached it's inner gloom

The faces round the table
Offered little hint of grace
He wondered how he found himself
In such a hostile place

He listened to the arguments
And took each point in stride
Then as the meeting seemed to slack
He took his feet with pride

In fact you do not know me
You know not of my past
Though I state my case quite clearly
And this truth is bound to last

I have been there at the coal face
I have sampled all the pain
So when you talk about it
I will ask you to refrain

You fly your office desks each day
That never leave the floor
Then you dare deny the workers
When they plead for something more

Well now you meet a worker
That has been there in that place
Now tell it to me now you fools
Just tell it to my face

The cat has took your tongue now
Not one of you will speak
I came here to confront you
Not your secrets just to leak

Now you have to face reality
We are people just as you
Then think on this you faceless clowns
We are far more, than just a few
