Father & Son

I glanced into the mirror today

And my father stared straight back

Can so many years have passed me by

Am I so far from the track

He was kind and warm and giving

So if fate says I replace

Then I take that role on gladly

Just see it in my face

My father I am proud of

I hope I fit his shoes

I will do my best to emulate

There’s nothing here to lose

When my time on earth is ended

I hope I am thought of just as well

Right now as I am typing this

The tears begin to well

Even though not much is said about the type of person your father is, I can really imagine what a role model he was; purely by the way you feel about him. Implied detail can have an even larger impact on readers than full descriptions, very well written! The ending is so touching...
