Forest Edge
A shrill sound awoke her
In the midst of the night
Now sitting bolt upright
Cold sweat from the fright

She moved to the window
Then peaked from the ledge
A figure on horseback
Was there forest edge

The lights in her bedroom
Then died all as one
She tried to phone out
Though the power was gone

Alone unprotected
What now should she do
This place so deserted
With neighbours so few

She wished he was still there
Though she turned him away
I guess that's one blunder
She will rue to this day.
