The Outpost at Rangan part five
A day to tend to wounded
Then to bury all the dead
They rested just one single night
The column he once more led

There was pride in this strong caravan
They had beat a worthy foe
Each man had overcome some fears
He would not let others know

They passed the trees of Carnon
Then carried on their way
Made best the light of travel
To do it all by day

From stars at night he plotted
To keep the path, true straight
He knew if he did deviate
There was no accounting for fate

At last they reached the turning point
The sands of Vicknafar
Then headed for the meeting place
They knew was now not far

Harret was the first to see
The silhouette in place
As Rangan's statuesque form
Domineered the horizon face

Urgency was gained then
As the newly inspired men
Made for the castle battlements
For safety now again

The drawbridge was soon opened
A welcoming embrace
Then what relief to see then
All around a welcome face

Time then to make merry
With many slaughtered oxe
And all wished on the enemy
A painful ruthless pox
