The Waking Hours
I do not fear the darkness
I welcome it in spades
For as the sleep takes over me
Reality just fades

The dreams then take the forefront
Adventures so to see
My mind is once again
At last to roam so free

Though as the morning light grows
The stark truth does appear
Then once again my mind is set
With daunting, abject fear

There is comfort in the darkness
It caresses blocks and frees
Whilst fast asleep there’s no one else
Can view what my mind sees

Then place me next to paper
And in my hand a pen
And I will share those dreams with you
I will live them once again
