To Montar Crag part 11

The day passed without incident
With the mileage travelled well
At night they camped beside the loch
Gains’t the trees of Jornamfell

Each evening as the men slept on
The armourers worked through
Collected up the weapons
Then repairing to look as new

They honed each blade to such degree
They knew each Crantang lance
Would strike fear in any enemy
And maim with the slightest glance

The clanking of the anvils
Had become a familiar sound
The men slept easily through it
In their Ganf skins on the ground

As the morning sun began to shine
The Escamants would stir
The freedom of the Moytscape
Was for them a daily lure

The men breakfasted heartily
On the staple Hishnore beans
There were two more days of travel
Till the Clan meet due convenes

They skirted round the lochs shore
To re find the chosen track
Outriders well ahead of them
To warn of ambush or attack

Ahead they faced the high ground
And the peaks of Montar Crag
Carnor pushed his wingman Randson
He would not allow a lag
