Years ago

Years and years and years ago

In a land that time forgot

Stood a castle on a hillside

Filled with treasures ill begot

With its rowdy in-bred household

It’s unruly mottled crew

The battlements were ill prepared

Then manned by just a few

They had plundered local villages

Then stripped the fields of crop

Past normal rules of decency

Seemed nothing that would stop

One night when moon was half at bay

The locals took their stance

It was their opportunity

Their only given chance

Inebriated warriors

Offered token force at best

The remainder then were cut off

As in bed they strove to rest

In one decisive battle then

The villagers were freed

Could live their lives as normal

Devoid of threat or greed
