Love From The Other Side

You've told me many times that
You would never wed again
If I should suddenly depart
this world we're living in.

You said you'd never love
Another man as you have me,
Or someone else the kids must
Call their dad there'd never be.

I feel truly blessed to have
The woman that I do,
And from the other side I know
I'll still be loving you.

But I would like for you to wed
Again if I should die,
And though you may be taken aback
By this, I'll tell you why.

I want you to be held the way
I know you need to be,
By someone who can hold you
As I do so tenderly
Each night as we lay side by side,
Or other moments when alone.
Someone to hold you in his heart
As I do inside my own.

You need two arms around you when
You're scared or feeling blue.
At times when life seems shaky,
A steady arm to hold on to.

The kids may need someone as well
As they grow older and bigger.
Someone who'll be there all the time
To provide a father figure.

And I'd rest more easily above
Just knowing one was there
To love you all the way I do
And protect you with his care.

But yet, with someone by your side,
My one request would be,
At times when you may be alone
Save some time for thoughts of me.
